As part of his jam-packed schedule around Teesside, the Prince was given a tour of Hemlington Lake where he met local groups and schools including young people from the Linx Detached Youth Outreach project, which is part of Middlesbrough Healthy Town’s Communities Health Grant.

Adding to the famous faces on the day was Boro defender Tony McMahon who put the Linx youngsters through their paces with some coaching, although even the most experienced players can be daunted by Royalty with McMahon admitting that he was overwhelmed to be playing in front of the Prince.

The Prince of Wales said: “It is a real joy to visit you all in Middlesbrough. It’s been particularly enjoyable meeting people’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”
